Mobile Car Key Replacement in Brevard County
Losing your car keys used to mean a tow to the dealership, a wait of several days, and a large bill. Today, Locksmith of Brevard brings the equipment to you. Our mobile automotive locksmith vans carry key cutting machines, programming tools and a wide inventory of keys and remotes, so we can create and program a working key right where your vehicle is parked, whether that is your driveway in Viera, a parking lot in Palm Bay, or your workplace in Melbourne.
In many cases we can do it faster and for less than the dealer, and you do not need to tow the car anywhere.

Car Keys We Make and Program
Transponder Keys
Most vehicles built since the late 1990s use transponder keys, which contain a small chip that communicates with the car immobilizer. Without the correct chip programmed to your vehicle, the engine will not start even if the key turns. We cut the key blade and program the chip to your vehicle on site.
Key Fobs and Remote Head Keys
Remote head keys combine the key blade and lock, unlock and trunk buttons in one piece. We supply and program replacement remotes and remote head keys for many makes and models.
Smart Keys and Push-to-Start Proximity Keys
If your car starts with a button, it uses a proximity smart key. We program replacement smart keys for many popular vehicles, including adding a spare so you always have a backup.
Laser-Cut and High-Security Keys
Many modern vehicles use thick, laser-cut keys with a groove milled down the center. These require specialized cutting equipment, which we carry in our service vehicles.
Spare Keys and Duplicates
The best time to get a spare is before you need one. Making a duplicate from an existing working key is much faster and less expensive than an all-keys-lost situation.
Ignition Repair and Replacement
Keys that stick, will not turn, or turn without starting the car can point to a worn ignition cylinder. We repair or replace ignition cylinders and match them to your keys whenever possible. For more automotive services, see our car locksmith services page.

What to Do If You Lost All Your Car Keys
- Do not panic. We can make a new key even when no original key exists.
- Find your VIN and proof of ownership. The vehicle identification number is visible through the windshield on the driver side. We need your registration or title and photo ID before we create a key.
- Call us with your year, make and model. This lets us confirm we have the right key and give you an accurate quote.
- Stay with or near your vehicle. We come to its location, open it if needed, cut and program a new key, and test it before we leave.
If your keys were stolen rather than lost, we can also program the vehicle so the old keys no longer start it, an important step in preventing theft.
Protecting Your Vehicle from Theft
Keyless entry systems are convenient, but thieves have found ways to exploit them, including relay attacks that capture the signal from a smart key inside your home. The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) tracks vehicle theft trends and recommends simple precautions, such as never leaving keys or fobs in the vehicle, storing smart keys away from doors and windows, and always keeping track of every key programmed to your car. If you buy a used vehicle and received only one key, consider having us erase unknown keys and program fresh ones.
Why Choose a Locksmith Instead of the Dealer?
- We come to you. No tow truck, no rides to the dealership, no leaving your car for days.
- Faster service. Most keys are cut and programmed in a single visit.
- Competitive pricing. We are often less expensive than the dealer for the same result.
- After-hours help. Our emergency service is available 24/7 for car lockouts and lost keys.
Vehicles We Service
We work on most domestic and import cars, trucks, SUVs and vans, including Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru and many more. Some luxury and newer models require dealer-only programming. When that is the case, we will tell you upfront so you do not waste time or money.
Understanding Modern Car Keys
Car keys have changed dramatically over the last two decades. Knowing what type of key your vehicle uses helps you understand what is involved in replacing it.
Basic Mechanical Keys
Older vehicles and some work trucks still use simple metal keys with no chip. These can be cut quickly by code or by decoding the lock.
Chipped Transponder Keys
A transponder chip in the key head sends a unique code to the vehicle. If the code is not recognized, the engine immobilizer prevents the car from starting. This dramatically reduced vehicle theft, but it also means a cut key alone will not start the car. It must be programmed.
Remote Head Keys and Flip Keys
These combine the transponder chip, key blade and remote buttons into one unit. Flip keys fold the blade into the head when not in use. Both the chip and the remote functions must be programmed.
Proximity Smart Keys
Smart keys let you unlock and start the vehicle without removing the key from your pocket. They contain an emergency blade for the door lock and must be programmed to communicate with the vehicle security system.
Signs Your Car Key or Fob Needs Attention
- The remote only works when you are very close to the vehicle, often a sign of a weak battery.
- The key blade is worn, bent or cracked.
- The key head is broken and the chip is loose.
- The dashboard shows a key not detected or security warning light.
- The key turns in the ignition but the car will not start.
Many of these issues can be fixed with a new battery, shell replacement or reprogramming rather than a brand-new key. We will diagnose the problem and recommend the most affordable fix.
Fleet and Dealer Services
We work with local businesses that operate vehicle fleets, as well as used car dealers, auto repair shops and rental companies across Brevard County. Whether you need spare keys for an entire fleet or a key for a vehicle that came in without one, we can come to your lot and handle multiple vehicles in one visit.
